Bio:
I started woodworking at the the age of 14, taking a 5 year apprenticeship, the old fashioned type “Blood, sweat & tears and more Blood”. At the end of this training, there was no work to be found except in a furniture factory, which was not for me.
I joined the army shortly after this and saw the world, learned & worked on every thing, except wood. I then entered the Communications and Electrical Engineering world and ended up designing system to go onto aircraft and satellites. During this time, I kept my hand in occasionally, by remodelling the houses I lived in, but I never had the time to really resume my passion.
So after 15 years of engineering, having obtained two degrees in the subject, I decided to leave the stressful existence and followed my heart to life with a wonderful lady and re-found my passion for working with wood.
I started my business in Finland nearly 4 years ago. I hand make custom furniture to order in my small one-man shop (65m2/700ft2), which I am just starting to outgrow. The bussines is growing slowly, but steadily, all my work now seems to be by recommendation or referrals. I am never going to be rich from this work, but I have never been so happy, relaxed and content in my life.
