ADOLFO RÍOS

Mexican Soccer Celebrity and "DEWALT's Champions of the Trade Soccer Cup" Spokesperson

Adolfo Rios started his career in professional soccer in 1985 playing for the Pumas UNAM in Mexico City. As a goalie in the 1987-1988 tournament, his team won the championship defeating rival Club America. After playing for Pumas, Ríos went on to Veracruz where he continued to show his skills. In 1997, Adolfo became the goalie of Necaxa and, in 1998 won the championship against Chivas after stopping a penalty kick from Alberto Coyote.

Considered one of Mexico’s best goal keepers, Rios signed a contract in 1999 with Club América, and participated in the Copa Libertadores 2000 and 2002, as well as Copa Campeones 2002 and 2003. Club America had not won a championship since its defeat against Rios and the Pumas in the 1987-1988 season. But, in 2002, in part thanks to Adolfo’s exceptional performance, Club America regained the Mexican league championship.

Adolfo received recognition for representing México with the national team. He was considered the best goal keeper in the Copa América in 1997 and wore the Mexican shirt in the Copa America once again in 1999. Adolfo retired from professional soccer in 2004 and he will always be remembered for his great professionalism, charisma and superior talents
