Power Tools - DEWALT LAUNCHES COMPACT LITHIUM ION TOOLS WITH LIGHTER WEIGHT, SMALLER SIZE AND QUICKER CHARGE
October 2009 – D
EWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools and accessories, launches a line of compact lithium ion power tools including a drill driver
(DCD760KL), impact driver
(DCF826KL), hammerdrill
(DCD775KL) and right angle drill
(DCD690KL). Two combo kits are also available. The
DCK265KL includes the DCD760 drill driver, DCF826 impact driver, (2) DC9181 compact lithium ion batteries and a charger. The
DCK266KL includes the DCD775 hammerdrill, DCF826 impact driver, (2) DC9181 compact lithium ion batteries and a charger.
The small, lightweight design of these tools is ideal for cabinetmakers, HVAC professionals as well as electrical, mechanical and general contractors who perform overhead drilling and fastening applications. The compact lithium ion battery (DC9181) charges in 30 minutes and is compatible with the existing system of D
EWALT 18V power tools, providing users with more options to pick the right battery for the job.
“As a result of extensive user research, we understand that professional contractors need tools that offer best-in-class power and performance in a compact package that is both lightweight and small in size,” said Frank Mannarino, VP of Cordless Product Development for D
EWALT. “The new platform of 18-volt Compact Lithium Ion products has been designed to meet these needs, and we are confident that the line will deliver the same guaranteed tough jobsite solutions that our users have come to expect from D
EWALT.”
Ergonomics
The DCD760KL, DCF826KL, DCD775KL and DCD690KL are compact, lightweight tools that allow users to access hard to reach areas. The handles of the tools offer a better grip and increased user comfort. The D
EWALT compact lithium ion battery weighs 1.0 lb and helps to reduce user fatigue when completing overhead applications.
Performance
For maximum performance, the DCD760KL compact drill driver and DCD775KL compact hammerdrill provide increased speed to complete a wide range of applications. Additionally, the DCF826KL compact impact driver and DCD690KL compact right angle drill have a variable speed reversing switch, providing users with more control for both setting and removing fasteners. The DCD760KL, DCF826KL and DCD775KL are equipped with a high-power, high-efficiency frameless motor that delivers increased performance for drilling and fastening applications.
The compact lithium ion battery is built with D
EWALT-designed electronics that promote cycle life and cell protection. As a result, the new compact lithium ion battery is rated at 1,000 recharges.
For increased productivity, all D
EWALT batteries can be charged with a yellow universal lithium ion charger that is compatible with D
EWALT nickel cadmium and lithium ion batteries. The new compact lithium ion batteries charge in less than 30 minutes.
System Options and Compatibility
The compact lithium ion battery is compatible with the existing system of D
EWALT 18V power tools produced since 1996. The backwards compatibility of the compact lithium ion battery enables users to continue to expand upon their existing 18V platform. Each 18V battery provides users with specific benefits:
- XRP™ Lithium Ion – for all drilling and cutting applications
- Compact Lithium Ion – overhead drilling and impacting
- XRP™ – power and run-time for heavy-duty applications
- Compact – balance of power, run-time and weight
