How do I reset the circuit breaker on the D55153 air compressor?
Allow motor to cool, ensure switch is off, press the reset button on motor.
Tips for cooler operation:
- Improve ambient conditions - Improve ambient ventilation/aeration - Move compressor on a shaded area - Eliminate extension cord
An improper extension cord could cause motor shut-off. In an extension cord must be used, be sure it is: • a 3 wire extension cord that has 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the product. • In good conditions. • No longer than 50 feet (15,2 m) • 12 gauge (AWG) or larger. (Wire size increases as gauge number decreases. 10 AWG and 8 AWG may also be used. DO NOT USE 14 OR 16 AWG).
Please see attached document for step by step instructions.
My DEWALT® D55153 Type 4 does not have a drain on the top tank.
On the D55153 type 4 we made a design change to the tank which makes the top drain unnecessary now. As the air is drained from the bottom, the top drains to the bottom so any condensation built up will still drain through the bottom tank drain.

compressor works very well.does not heat up too much.runs 2 nail guns at the same time, also runs impact to take lug nuts off a SUV fine.keeps up with most small air tools.I am quite surprised how much i can do.I had no problem running on a 15A or 20A as long as it was fed with #12 wire .I recommend a 10 Ga 50ft or less cord.My 14Ga 25ft cord made breaker trip.
best small compressor I used so far.out did IR brand!!
I bought this as an upgrade from a 12V compressor that I carry in my car. I have used it several times a month to air up tires or using an impact wrench rotating my tires. I've kept it indoors on a table and has never been wet or in the elements at all. The last time I used it I heard air leaking from the pressure switch. I have hardly used this thing and it's broken. I bought this because I thought DeWalt was a good product.
WE HAVE HAD THIS COMPRESSOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. IT CAN RUN 3 OR 4 FRAMING GUNS ALL DAY AND IS NOT VERY LOUD, AND IT DOESNT TRIP BREAKERS LIKE OTHER COMPRESSORS DO. THIS IS A GREAT COMPRESSOR !!
