Thought this would be a good long lasting purchase. I was wrong. Compressor won't start when cold. It blows fuses. The wheels are in the wrong location. Can't roll the unit up a step or off the tailgate of a truck without the frame hitting the stairs or the edge of the tailgate. Scratching stairs etc. The motor has no bottom protection.motor hits stairs, potential damage. Overall this is a no buy. Very poor design and poor quality. Don't buy this compressor.
Here goes, our 7 year old garage had burnt down on May 14 2013. We had to repurchase every thing we lost in the fire as soon as we could for insurance reasons.
I bought my 1st DeWalt air compressor June 1, 2013 from Home Depot in Huntsville Ontario. When I got it home I was not able to use it until I got the building permit the 1st week of August. I remembered when I opened the box to register it there was a note in it that said 'home show model'.
Once I recieved my permit I plugged it in and it would not work. I live in Sundridge Ontario which is the same driving distance from Huntsville, Ontario and North Bay. (Drive takes an hour each way to either town. I had personal reasons to go to North Bay so I tried to return it to the Home Depot Store in North Bay. They told me that since it had been over 30 days that we purchased the compressor that we had to take it to another company in North Bay for repair. IS YOUR POLICY NOT TRY IT FOR 90 DAYS, if you don't like it bring it back.
If this is what I have to look forward to when I buy DeWalt product this will be my last.
I returned to the Huntsville store and they had absolutely no problem replacing the compressor.
Why is there such a gap between reps like Home Depot with your product. I am not impressed with the entire experience. I hope I have no problems with this newly registered air compressor Huntsville, Ontario store sold me or I will never buy another DeWalt product ever again. I would buy Ridgid or Makita and if asked by friends I would disway them as well.
Pros: Great tools to work with, keep making them better
Cons: returns can be issues, prices are a litte high but you pay for quality
running two framing nailers simultaniously, no problem. I replaced the cord with a rubber one-the original was truly anoying.
Other than that the thing is still going strong after 5 years despite almost daily use.
I've bought this compressor over a year ago and found it to be great. I can run 2+ roofing nailers going full tilt as well as my framing nailers. The one problem i have with it is that the electric cord itself is poor. Where it attaches to the compressor it has cracked within 2 months and my buddies did the same. it is as if the cord is too stiff and instead of flexing, it prefers to break, its easy to fix but is something that shouldn't happen. Considering that that's the only problem with it, i would still recommend it as is works well, and is easy to transport, and easy on the back as compared to the wheelbarrow type. Very important to tradesmen.
