Charge Up To Recycle

DEWALT, along with other members of the rechargeable power industry, are proud supporters of a unique product stewardship program called Charge Up to Recycle! The nationwide Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) rechargeable battery-recycling program is operated by the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit public service organization, and is dedicated to eliminating rechargeable battery waste.

Ni-Cd batteries are found in portable electronic products such as cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, and camcorders. Approximately 85% of Ni-Cd batteries are found in cordless power tools. With an estimated 431 million cordless power products in U.S. households today, rechargeable batteries are an integral part of our daily lives. Beginning January 2001, the program will expand to include Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead Acid (Pb) rechargeable batteries.

Since the program began in 1996, RBRC and the industry have succeeded in recycling more than 16 million pounds of batteries. Currently there are more than 29,000 retail and community drop off locations in the U.S. and Canada for consumers to recycle used rechargeable batteries. Participating locations are listed on the RBRC web site, www.rbrc.org, and the toll free help line 1-800-8-BATTERY. If it’s rechargeable, It’s recyclable.
