Dear DEWALT,
On September 9,2000 The Holiday Shores Fire Department held an auto extrication training class. This class was intended for the demonstration and use of our newly acquired hydraulic extrication tools. The training also included a tool not previously used in auto extrication, a DEWALT cordless reciprocating saw. I had seen the use of this saw in a fire magazine. The magazine portrayed this as a very versatile tool, but the magazine sold the tool short. I was able to remove the support posts (A,B,C) and remove the windshield. The time required was quite impressive. I was able to quickly gain major access to the vehicle via the roof. To further test the versatility of the tool, I went one step further and cut other non-auto materials such as an old garage door (metal) and construction materials (siding, plywood, drywall). The tool worked wonderfully. A purchase point was created using a fire axe and then the saw was put to work. A wood blade worked best on the laminated glass, but for all other purposes the demolition blade was the "blade of choice". It tool only two batteries to completely
"destroy" two automobiles over the course of three hours. I had the optional AC/DC converter standing by, but it wasn't needed.
I wanted DEWALT to be aware of the effectiveness with which the tool worked. The versatility, ease of operation, weight, and cost, make this product and excellent addition to our equipment arsenal. This tool has gained a place on our squad and will definitely be used in rescue/extrication operations.
Sincerely,
Steve Cooper
