May 2004 – DEWALT
has introduced seven new heavy-duty XRP cordless hammerdrill/drill/ drivers,
incorporating significant performance, run-time and durability enhancements.
Included are three 18V models (DC989KA/VA, DC988KA/VA and DC987KA), three 14.4V models (DC985KA/VA,
DC984KA/VA and DC983KA) and a 12V model (DC980KA).
Built to withstand the
job-site environment and deliver optimal performance in the most demanding applications, the XRP cordless drills
feature a DEWALT-built,
high-torque, high-efficiency motor with up to 500-in-lbs of torque.
A three-speed,
all-metal transmission provides maximum speed and the largest number of speed
ranges for increased productivity. The switch features larger
contact pads for greater durability and reliability. And XRP high-capacity
batteries provide increased run-time, longer life and a two-year service
contract.
The XRP cordless drills come
equipped with a 1/2" ratcheting chuck with an all-metal sleeve and carbide
jaws that provide better grip to prevent bits from slipping and/or falling out.
Superior ergonomics assure optimum tool balance, control and weight. And all
XRP drill/drivers allow for multi-bit storage of various bit tip holders, nut
drivers and screwdriver bits.
All models come with two XRP
battery packs, one-hour charger, double-ended screwdriver bit and heavy-duty
kit box. The 18V models are also supplied with a 360-degree side handle.
Combining DEWALT’s
highest levels of quality, engineering, design and performance, the XRP range
of 18V cordless tools also includes a 6-1/2" circular saw
and a reciprocating saw. The broader DEWALT 18V cordless system is
the most complete in the industry, with more than 23 tools using a single
battery platform. Included are cordless drills, impact wrenches/drivers, cut-off tools,
vacuums, lasers and other innovative tools.
