DEWALT Launches Heavy-Duty 36V Cordless Reciprocating Saw--Providing Professional Users With The Power Of Corded Without The Cord

-- New Reciprocating Saw Features 4-Position Blade Clamp and Keyless Blade Change for Increased Ease of Use –
-- Independent Testing Found the 36V Reciprocating Saw Cuts 20 Percent Faster Than the Industry’s Leading Corded Reciprocating Saws --

January 2006 -- DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, today announced the launch of its heavy-duty 36V reciprocating saw (DC305K). DEWALT engineered the DC305K with a 36V battery, providing professional users with increased levels of power and runtime, while maintaining a similar weight to corded and 18V saws. The DC305K was built from the ground up with innovative features, which help to increase levels of versatility and productivity. The DC305K provides professional contractors with the performance of a corded reciprocating saw without the restriction of a power cord.

The DC305K is designed with a patented 4-position keyless blade clamp, which enables the reciprocating saw blade to be inserted into two common vertical positions as well as two horizontal cutting positions for added versatility and convenience when flush cutting. With the blade in a horizontal position, users are able to cut close to floors, walls and ceilings, or where clearance is limited. A key result of this feature is less bending and breaking of blades. Additionally, the saw has a 3-position adjustable shoe that allows the user to easily adjust the depth of cut for increased control and visibility. The adjustable shoe also helps to extend the life of the blade.

The DC305K delivers 0-3,000 strokes per minute, giving the tool the ability to cut faster than the industry’s leading corded reciprocating saw*. An increased stroke length of 1-1/8” allows professional contractors to complete tasks quickly and move on to the next job.

Independent third-party testing evaluated the speed and runtime of the DC305K by comparing it to the industry’s leading corded and cordless reciprocating saws. Testing found that the DC305K has the ability to cross cut a 2”x10” in 7.34 seconds, 28 percent faster than the Milwaukee Ò 6509 corded reciprocating saw*. When testing the runtime of the tool, the DC305K made an average of 64 cross cuts of a 2”x10”- two times the amount of the industry’s leading 18V saw**.

Available in the first half of 2006, the DC305K is ideal for electricians, plumbers and HVAC professionals, as well as for remodeling, demolition and framing jobs. It has the capability to cut through existing walls, PVC, metal pipe, metal studs, threaded rod, strut, and duct corners as fast or faster than the leading electric saws. Combined with 2-3x the runtime compared to 18V, the DC305 brings new levels of productivity to the jobsite.
