January 2006 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, today announced the launch of its heavy-duty 36V jigsaw (DC308K). DEWALT engineered the DC308K with a 36V battery, providing professional users with increased levels of power and runtime, while maintaining a similar weight to corded and 18V saws. The DC308K was built from the ground up with innovative features, which help to increase levels of versatility and productivity. The DC308K provides professional contractors with the performance of a corded jigsaw without the restriction of a power cord.

DEWALT designed the DC308K with an all-metal lever action keyless blade change for quick and easy blade changes. Additionally, the DC308K is equipped with an all-metal keyless shoe bevel with detents at 0° , 15° , 30° , and 45° , providing versatility for easy bevel cutting. The DC308K also has four-position orbital action, allowing professional users to set the aggression of cut along with cut speed by altering the angle at which the blade sweeps through the material.

For increased ease of use, the DC308K features an anti-slip comfort grip, providing increased comfort and control for the user. A dust blower creates a clear sight line when cutting, and a non-marring shoe cover helps avoid damaging softer materials. The DC308K also features a 1" stroke length and 0-2,700 spm with an electric brake, allowing for improved control and versatility in different materials and applications.

Independent third-party testing evaluated the runtime of the DC308K and found that the saw has two times the run-time compared to the industry’s leading 18V saw. When testing the runtime of the tool, the DC308K cut an average of 62 feet of 1" laminated particle board, two times the amount of the industry’s leading 18V saw*.

Available in the first half of 2006, the DC308K has the ability to complete a variety of heavy-duty applications, such as cutting hard woods, plywood, laminate, sheet metal and plastics. Combined with two times the runtime compared to 18V, the DC308 brings new levels of productivity to the jobsite.
