July 2007 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, introduced a new line of heavy-duty compact dills, including 12V (DC742KA/VA**), 14.4V (DC730KA), 18V (DC720KA) and an 18V hammer drill (DC725KA). The entire family of DEWALT compact drills provides users with superior ergonomics, better performance and enhanced durability.
Superior Ergonomics
The DEWALT line of compact drills is shorter in length ranging from 7.8” to 8.7’’ allowing professional contractors easy access into tight spaces. The weight has also been reduced ranging from 3.8lbs to 4.9lbs helping to reduce user fatigue when working overhead or in hard to reach spaces. The new ergonomic design provides optimum balance, comfort and control.
Better Performance
The new line of DEWALT compact drills offers end-users increased speed and maximum power ranges in order to complete a wide range of applications. All three new compact drill/drivers have single sleeve ratcheting chucks. The 18V and 14.4V have ˝’’ chucks and the 12V has a 3/8’’ chuck. The new 18V hammer drill is equipped with a ˝’’ single sleeve ratcheting all metal chuck.
Finally, the new drills feature a LED work light that provides visibility in tight spaces and an improved handle design to offer users more comfort and control.
Enhanced Durability
The compact drill is equipped with new components including a DEWALT-designed frameless motor and all metal planetary gears. Additionally, the frameless motor produces more airflow for increased durability. The new components provide users with a more robust cordless drill, allowing users to be more productive on the jobsite.
The new 18V Compact Drills (DC720KA & DC725KA) are powered by the DEWALT 18V cordless system, which is designed for maximum durability and versatility, allowing users to operate 38 tools off of one battery.
