DEWALT LAUNCHES 18V WITH NANO™ TECHNOLOGY – INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY OFFERS LONGER LIFE, LIGHTER WEIGHT, GREATER PERFORMANCE

September 2007 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of 18V with NANO™ Technology. The exclusive 18V NANO™ Phosphate Lithium Ion batteries will be compatible with the existing 38-tool system of DEWALT 18V tools. This will provide users with increased versatility and the ability to select the best chemistry to meet jobsite needs. Available in Fall 2007, the 18V system will expand to include a new 18V hammerdrill (DC927) and an 18V impact driver (DC827).

NANO™ Technology is a proprietary technology from DEWALT that delivers to the user longer cycle life, lighter weight, greater performance, and an expanded system of tool offerings. These benefits encompass the DEWALT commitment to providing professional contractors with a breadth of tool offerings that deliver the performance they need in an ideal ergonomic package.

The new hammerdrill is equipped with a heavy-duty ˝” self-tightening chuck that tightens, providing increased bit retention. Additionally, the DC927 is designed with a patented three-speed, all-metal transmission for increased versatility. The DC827 has a new motor, LED work light and improved handle design for maximum performance and improved comfort.

DEWALT 18V with NANO™ Technology features exclusive batteries that are designed with unique Nano-Phosphate lithium Ion cells that provide users with increased battery durability and cycle life, offering 2,000 recharges.* The battery will be compatible with the existing system of DEWALT 18V power tools produced since 1996. The new tools will be launching with an innovative charger capable of charging 7.2V – 18V NiCd, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries. The introduction of 18V with NANO™ Technology expands the 18V system and provides professional contractors with the flexibility to select the best chemistry and tool to meet jobsite demands.

“With the popularity of 18V among professional contractors, DEWALT wanted to offer a premium 18V option that would be lighter and provide enhanced performance features. With millions of users invested in the DEWALT 18V system, we designed the premium 18V tools to be compatible with our current 18V system, allowing our user base to easily expand and upgrade their existing family of tools,” commented Pete Morris, VP of DEWALT Cordless Marketing. “This further underscores our commitment to developing new technologies that meet users’ needs on the jobsite.”

DEWALT will offer three cordless platforms with NANO™ Technology; 36V, 28V and 18V. By offering these voltages with NANO™ Technology, DEWALT is able to provide users with an extensive range of power tools that satisfy a wide scope of user demands on the jobsite.
