BALTIMORE, September 2003 - DEWALT's new DC500 is the first cordless/corded portable two-gallon wet-dry vacuum designed specifically for contractors.

For versatility, the DC500 runs off DEWALT 12-, 14.4- and 18-volt battery packs (not included), or it can be plugged into a 120-volt AC electrical outlet for continuous power.

A GORE™ wet/dry filter from the inventors of GORE-TEX® products provides effective dust collection, trapping 99.7% of dust particles inside the vacuum.

With its two-gallon size, powerful pick-up and efficient filter, the DC500 is ideal for professional installers, maintenance and repair staff, service technicians, plumbers, electricians, remodelers, and general contractors.

The vacuum produces ample power to pick up drywall and concrete dust, fasteners, water, sawdust, wood chips and other debris. Using a DEWALT 18-volt XR+PACK™ battery, the DC500 has enough run-time to collect up to 200 pounds of drywall dust, or 100 gallons of water. For unlimited run-time, the vacuum automatically switches over to AC power when plugged into an outlet.

DEWALT's DC500 is portable, with a compact design and on-board storage that keeps the hose, cord, wide nozzle, and crevice tool together for easy transport.

For maximum performance and easy maintenance, the vacuum comes with a washable and reusable GORE™ wet/dry filter which eliminates the need to change filters when switching between wet and dry pick-up. Compared with ordinary filters, it captures the finest dust particles such as drywall dust and prevents them from escaping out the exhaust. In addition, the material in the filter keeps it from clogging and ensures smooth air flow for better suction power.

For convenience, a drain port on the front of the vacuum allows users to empty any liquid in the tank by simply unscrewing the cap instead of removing the entire canister lid.

The DC500 has a durable, positive-lock rubber hose with a standard 1-1/4" opening. The detachable hose expands to six feet and can be connected to the exhaust port, turning the vacuum into a blower. Heavy-duty canister latches and a sealed power switch add durability to the unit.

The DEWALT DC500 includes the GORE™ wet/dry filter, hose, wide nozzle and crevice tool attachments, and a one-year warranty. A replacement filter (DC5001) is also available.
