– Innovative Bind-Up Control™ Feature Provides Improved Control –
October 2008 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its new 1/2" stud and joist drill (DWD460). Built to drill large holes in wood using ship auger bits, hole saws and self-feed bits, the new drill provides plumbers, electricians and HVAC installers with increased levels of performance, durability and user control on the jobsite.
The DWD460 is equipped with an innovative Bind-Up Control™ feature that provides increased user control in bind-up/stall situations. The Bind-Up Control™ feature senses a stall during use and adjusts the motor torque to a manageable level. The Bind-Up Control™ indicator illuminates when it is activated.
DEWALT also designed the drill with a mechanical, torque-limiting clutch that is active when low speed is selected. This feature allows for increased durability with prolonged gear protection.
The DWD460 has an 11.0 amp motor that offers users a high-level of power to complete heavy-duty jobsite applications. Additionally, DEWALT designed the unit with variable speed settings of 0–300 and 0–1300 RPM. This versatility allows users to match the appropriate speed and torque to the desired application. The drill is equipped with a multi-position adjustable bail handle and a two-position side handle for maximum leverage and control.
For increased comfort, the DWD460 is designed with an anti-slip comfort grip on the gear casing and handle, as well as a knuckle guard for added hand protection.
