Press Release
DEWALT LAUNCHES HEAVY-DUTY COIL FRAMING NAILER WITH INCREASED NAIL CAPACITY AND VERSATILITY

January 2009 – DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, announced the launch of its heavy-duty coil framing nailer (D51855). The D51855 is capable of handling a wide range of nail sizes allowing users to complete more applications with one nailer. Built for framers and general contractors, the D51855 can be used for structural framing, floor decking, roof decking, truss installation, furring strips, wall sheathing, pallet and crate manufacturing and fencing.

Reliability
DEWALT engineered the D51855 to provide longer life to key wearable components such as driver blade assembly and bumper. The piston driver assembly provides a more robust connection with additional thread engagement. An internal piston catch is designed for maximum power at the end of the stroke, allowing users a consistent drive on each shot. For increased versatility, the feed pawl is designed to feed and carry a variety of nail sizes. Additionally, a trigger lock-off provides the option to lock the nailer and prevent the unit from firing.

Performance
For increased jobsite performance and productivity, the D51855 framing nailer is able to fire several nails per second and has 20 percent less air consumption than other competitive units. The framing nailer is optimized to use less air, but still has the ability to drive a 3" nail into engineered lumber and to work as fast as the end user. For increased versatility, the unit handles 15 degree wire collated nails from 1 ˝" to 3 ˝" in length and from .099" to .131" in diameter. A re-designed contact trip offers a more aggressive bite which is helpful when completing toe-nailing applications.

Ease of Use
The new, eight pound nailer is designed with a larger bumper and a four bolt nose design, which allows for less recoil and increased nail penetration. The D51855 is equipped with a nail tray that adjusts with a tool-free push that raises and lowers to accommodate for different nail sizes. The nail tray also extends out for easy nail loading and less interference when using large nails. The coil framing nailer can hold between 200 and 300 nails depending on nail size. Additionally, the D51855 has a tool-free depth adjustment that allows users to easily switch between applications. For increased ease of use, DEWALT designed an adjustable, non-slip rafter hook.

Durability
The durable wear guards are designed with steel and replaceable rubber inserts that protect the body of the tool and keep it from sliding. The nailer has a robust nail canister built to protect the unit from jobsite wear and tear. For easy repair out in the field, the user has access to all wear components from the top of the tool. This allows for bumper replacement without having to remove the nosepiece when the tool is serviced for regular wear maintenance.
