BALTIMORE, Sept. 2003 - DEWALT has introduced a new 12-1/2 inch benchtop thickness planer with a unique three-knife cutter head that produces more cuts-per-inch for a better finish.

Designed for skilled woodworkers and professionals who require precision planing in a benchtop model, the DEWALT DW734 replaces the company's previous DW733 planer.

Using three knives instead of two, the DW734 produces a smoother finish at 96 cuts-per-inch. For longevity, the disposable, reversible knives are made from M2 laminated steel. They provide 30% longer life than the previous two-knife system and are easy to change using just one tool.

To minimize the movement that causes snipe, the DW734 has a manual carriage lock and folding feed tables that provide 33 inches of material support. Cutting accuracy is indicated by three calibrated measurement scales that include a turret depth stop, material removal scale, and material thickness scale. An ergonomic crank handle allows for precise depth adjustments, while the large paddle switch makes the unit easy to turn on and off. For convenience, the planer comes with a dust collection hood that can be attached to a vacuum or dust collection system.

The DW734 comes with three reversible knives, removable dust hood, and a one-year warranty. Separate accessories include a mobile planer stand and extra knives.
