July/August 1999
The author of this article classifies the DEWALT DW744 as "the undisputed rip-fence champion" of table saws. Here's why: The 744's unique rip fence can clamp to a pair of rails that crank out from the table, allowing for rips of 24 1/2" when fully extended. Yet it retracts fully within the saw when not in use. And the dial-operated rack-and-pinion gear system automatically keeps the fence parallel to the blade as you adjust the width of the rip.
Compared to the competition, the 744 is "the only saw with the capacity to rip sheet goods right down the middle."
