August 2000
Popular Woodworking Magazine tests new tools when they appear on the hardware store shelves, but they also know that the question their readers really want answered is, "How long will the tool last." This being said, they regularly test tools that have been used in their shop for over a year. August 2000 they decided to run the DW621 (which has been in their shop for 3 years) through their Endurance Test.
The testers at Popular Woodworking said, "The DeWALT 621 is the standard by which we measure all medium sized plunge routers." They continue by describing many of the features of the DW621. Including the powerful 10 amp motor. "There’s enough power to use this tool in a router table, though I have a philosophical prejudice against dedicating such a versatile machine to only one operation." They were also pleased with the spindle lock on the collet, easing the changing of bits. As well as the integral dust collection.
They sum up their test by saying, "We really like this router and it is the first tool we reach for when we need a plunger."
