Recently, American Woodworker magazine tested 18 different brad nailers, judging them on a variety of features and benefits such as depth adjustment, weight, and exhaust. With all of the testing complete, the DEWALT D51238K 18 gauge brad nailer received the coveted "Editor's Choice" award.

In the words of the author: "Like a favorite hammer, a brad nailer should feel like an extension of your hand.” The author praised the DEWALT brad nailer for its compact height and easy to use sliding drive-depth lever which allows the tool to perform a variety of applications. Other features such as the belt hook, patented trigger lock-off feature and the lack of recoil helped propel the DEWALT brad nailer to the top of the list in 2003.
